Guillermo Maldonado
Title: Vice President

My Name Is Guillermo Maldonado. When I was little to about 11 years old, I remember reading and watching the movie about Captain America, sure he fights and defense for America, but he also fights for the morality that people like us need to take in. Because of this inspiration, I always wanted to tackle my problems head-on, in terms of leadership, responsibility, and morality. After high school, I knew that I could be capable of being part of a change, either for students or for the college itself. I was tired of being selfish and ungrateful during my school years from middle school to high school and now I am willing to take part in this new chapter for this campaign. Although I was born in the United States of America, I grew up in Mexico and then came back to the United States of America in the fifth grade. I missed my friends and I was bullied constantly because my English was weird and I wasn't the smartest kid, till this day I'm still not the smartest kid but one doesn't have to be the smartest to take action and notice right from wrong. What does this have to do with the campaign? Well in times like these racism and prejudice seems to be crawling its way back and it is not slowing down. It is our time as students to come together and stand up against hate. There is no better time than now. I want to hear from everyone because everyone's voices matter no matter what. I will be there for whatever issue because I have been in the dark for a long time and so as everyone during the pandemic, but now is our chance to regain the very soul we once had. To hold the hands of those who need it. I will devote myself to the better of the campus and its students, as well as sustainability issues, environmental issues, etc, As Environmental Senator I am grateful for the people who helped me in the process of Student Government and working in Associated Students, has taught me the value and power that we all as students have. We can make that go even greater. Acknowledging and participating for Women's rights and gender equality for all genders. My door is open for everyone from whatever background. Our time when coming back to school will be a moment we will not forget but it is also important to heal ourselves once more. I want to speak up for the Minorities and I want to speak out for women's rights and when it is time to head back to campus in person, we must stand strong and hear from them. Together, not just me, but for all of us as people to share our voices and fight the unjust just like Captain America.
